There are proposed cuts in service on services between Tonbridge and Ashford. The DfT Public Consultation talks about reducing calls at stations between Tonbridge and Ashford – reductions for Pluckley, Headcorn, Staplehurst, Marden, and Paddock Wood.
This could have a major impact on communities, towns and villages along this line and villages like ours, where many rely on rail services for commuting to and from work and school.
A petition (details of which are below) has been raised which has nearly 3000 signatures. Signing this petition means that you reject any reduction in rail services for Pluckley, Headcorn, Staplehurst, Marden, and Paddock Wood.
The background to this is that Southeastern’s franchise to provide our services expires December 2018 and the Department for Transport (DfT) is building the tender process.
